Our Sister Societies
Artists
Rights Society maintains bilateral agreements with most of the societies
in the Conseil International des Auteurs d'Arts Graphiques,
Plastiques, et Photographiques (CIAGP), the visual arts branch
of CISAC. By virtue of these agreements an international network
of sister societies exists. Foreign societies’ members are
represented by ARS in the United States, and ARS’ American
members are represented via sister societies in numerous countries
around the world. By
joining ARS, the artist joins all of ARS' sister societies and benefits
from the protections offered creators in 31 countries.
For
a publisher, this means licenses may be granted on a worldwide basis
by the society in the publisher’s territory. There is no need
to apply for permission to each society in each territory where
the publisher’s reproductions are to be distributed.
