Corita Kent x Chloé SS21 Collection

French fashion house Chloé paid homage to American artist Corita Kent, known as the “Pop Art Nun,” in their SS21 collection titled “A Season in Hope.”

Through out her career, Corita Kent created vibrant graphic silkscreens and was an advocate for social justice. In the 1960s, Corita’s work became increasingly political as she took on themes like poverty, racism, the Vietnam war, gender inequality and social injustices.

Corita understood the visual impact of words at a time of great unrest. The works themselves feel incredibly fresh and relevant today. Chloé’s collection features five of her silkscreen artworks created between 1963 and 1967, reproduced in their entirety across printed, embroidered, and woven garments. These garments include T-shirts, buttoned-up shirts, sweaters, dresses, and handbags. Corita’s work complement the collection’s contemporary patchwork of Chloé references and its feminine spirit of optimistic rebellion.
