Artists Rights Society teamed up with Projects Watches to pay homage to Joan Miró in their latest collection, transforming his works Bleu II and Mosaic del Pla de l’Os into timepieces. Brands like LIMITATO have previously found inspiration in Miró’s work and curated collaborations dedicated to the iconic artist – and stay tuned for a perfect back-to-school gift featuring the artist’s work from Kids Art Box, launching soon!
Projects Watches is dedicated to redefining the concept of timepieces through innovative design and artistic collaboration, partnering with artists to create wearable works of art for creators, by creators. This partnership honors Miró’s legacy as one of the most influential artists of the 20th century by reimagining two of his most recognizable works into wearable art.
Associated with the Surrealist movement, Miró’s work often featured the innovative use of line, bright colors and organic shapes. Bleu II, part of a triptych created in 1961, exemplifies this technique, with a bright red line dynamically interrupting a solid blue canvas. The Mosaic del Pla de l’Os, meanwhile, located in the center of the Rambla in Barcelona and viewed by thousands of pedestrians each day, displays the artist’s unique and intuitive visual language.
