Artists Rights Society is excited to announce a new collaboration with Lucie Kaas, the Danish design studio known for its collectible Kokeshi dolls that reinterpret icons of art and design. Their newest release transforms René Magritte’s The Son of Man (1964) into a meticulously hand-painted wooden figure, complete with the signature bowler hat, cloud-patterned tie, and the green apple that conceals as much as it reveals.
At 5.7 inches tall, each Kokeshi is crafted from sustainably sourced Superba Schima wood through a 43-step process of carving and painting. The result brings Magritte’s wit and precision into collectors’ hands – honoring an artist who made the ordinary mysterious and inviting a new generation to live with one of modern art’s most iconic images.
