Deborah Kass works in mixed media, and is most recognized for her paintings, prints, photography, sculptures and neon lighting installations. Kass’s early work mimics and reworks signature styles of iconic male artists of the 20th century including Frank Stella, Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock, and Ed Ruscha. Kass’s technique of appropriation is a critical commentary on the intersection of social power relations, identity politics, and the historically dominant position of male artists in the art world. Kass’s work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art; Whitney Museum of American Art; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum; Jewish Museum; Museum of Fine Art, Boston; Cincinnati Museum of Art; New Orleans Museum; National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution; Fogg Museum, Harvard Art Museums; and Weatherspoon Museum, among others.

Do you have your eclipse glasses ready?👓 In honor of today's total solar eclipse, we're sharing the painting "The Eclipse" by our member Alma Thomas. For this work in her "Space" series, Thomas took inspiration from the total solar eclipse that occurred on March 7, 1970, and captured the unique way in which the Sun's corona peeks out from behind the moon during this astrological phenomenon.

Artists Rights Society is thrilled to welcome new member @shantell_martin

A multifaceted artist known for her work across various disciplines, Shantell Martin has achieved notable success in the realms of fine art, education, design, philosophy, and technology.

Shantell Martin is best known for her large-scale, black-and-white line drawings, held in collections such as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Denver Art Museum, and the Whitney Museum; and has collaborated with iconic brands such as Tiffany and Co., Mattel, The North Face, Vespa, 1800 Tequila and Puma.

�As a member of ARS, Martin joins a roster of over 100,000 artists and estates including Henri Matisse, Georgia O’Keeffe, Pablo Picasso, Jenny Holzer, Jacob Lawrence, Faith Ringgold, George Condo, and Frida Kahlo.
